Greating! April,2007 - Upon return from the Virgin Islands in March 2007, I found many things in life had changed in Ashland, Oregon, where I was living. In looking at how to respond to this change, the opportunity to move to St. Croix became available. I have been knowing that a semi-retired lifestyle in a warm place is on my horizon and the wave has come. I am surfing the wave of my life to a new zone. An epic adventure before the finale. Thank you all who read this for being in my life and for caring. We will forever share in the one love we have generated through yoga.... chitta vritti nirodha Scroll down for most recent update Oct. 15 Howdy Yall....Welcome to my world. My thought re: the 'nick' like: 'whatever' happens in the 'nick' of time. If you're needing a change, if your driviing down the road following directions to a new location, if you need money, etc. whatever you need, whatever you are looking for appears in the 'nick', at the 'nick'. So, knowing this helps me relax into 'being' when all my cells want to respond to the situation by getting impatient, stressed, etc. Back to the breath and the calm channel of Prana flowing.... up and down, in and out.... radiating loving kindness. Just as I was relaxing in to being, knowing that the 'nick' was around the corner, the wind picked up and life has offered change, activity, entertainment. Life's like a flower blossoming. In the bud for a bit.... as long as it takes.... no hurrying these things...... When life is ready to take off... wow! A few rewarding friendships are blossoming and I'M LEARNING TO WEAVE BASKETS! out of the local grasses... the most exciting thing for me. I've been taking a little ferry/fairy ride from the dock to the beach, from the beach to the dock... since I've been here and there are a few ferry captains.... this is a small ferry, so you sit there with the captain and the passengers for this 3 minute ride for 3 dollars.... Couple days ago, 'Freddy' the oldest captain, had his basket making stuff with him and he started teaching me.... I got excited, to say the least, cause that's just my thing. The experience is brightening my life. Next day I went to the Ferry to the beach.... swam my laps in my beach 'therapy pool'.... and when I came back Freddy was getting off and wanted to introduce me to his wife, 72 year old Cruzen man and his slightly younger Cruzen wife Elma. Turns out she's excited Freddy is gonna teach me cause he need to pass on his skill and she's not patient enough. Anyway, not to make a big deal... yesterday he brought palm grasses to the ferry and I met him there and learned enough to take home the grasses and get into the meditation of it.... I'm stoked.... weaving and chanting.... make my day.... make my life..... I'll take a pic when I finish my fist basket and show yall. Gettin the vibe of the island life like this mon... So when you come and visit, we can do yoga, meditation, pranayama, basket making and chanting.... Fun! Glory, my youngest daughter, 27, is coming back to the island next Friday. She's the one who moved me here, then went off for a couple months to work on a boat... My friend Kelly also a massage therapist, is gonna pick her up with me (as I don't have a car) and Glory's renting one of the cute little apartments in this building I"m living in. There will probably be times she goes off and works for a week or a month.... so stay in touch if you want to come visit and have a cheap and cute spot to stay and retreat also add fun to the equation! We can work it out! work is good! play is good! have a great day wherever you are! Click for pics Semi retired update.... when I moved here, I used the word 'semi-retired' without really knowing what it was going to mean for me.... I am oncall at a spa, 4 days a week 5 hours each time re: Massage Therapy (pulling on previous career skills).... when I'm done with work I come home and I don't have work on my mind.... The folks that come to be served are mostly tourists who I will never see again, and I get to surrender to the light in them as I massage them, which pulls through their perfect healing, and I love it! Blessings to yall, iris/irie Jan. 2, 2008 I just completed a 11 day work cycle and am experiencing the grace of two days off with no schedule. Glory was working on a charter boat over the holidays and one of my co workers wanted to go home for the holidays, so I took 3 of her shifts. I ended up working 6/ 10 hour days (that's massaging straight with 10 minutes between clients to change the sheets) at the height of busy season.... this old gal made it and am alive to tell the tale.... what a meditation and yoga practice.... staying with the breath is a lifesaver re: endurance and turning anything into yoga. |
